APPLICATION DIRECTIONS

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

New Wood Floors:

    1. Prepare floor according to NOFMA or NWFA specifications.
    2. Apply DuraSeal Masterline® Polyurethane using a lambswool applicator or natural bristle brush at a coverage rate of 500-600 square feet per gallon. Application of thicker coats extends dry time.
    3. Allow to dry fully for 8-10 hours, then screen the floor and tack floor with a cloth moistened with mineral spirits to remove dust.
    4. Apply at least two more coats in same manner as steps 2 & 3. Additional coats of polyurethane may be applied if desired. Be sure to allow each coat to fully dry and screen lightly between each coat.

Screen and Recoat:

  1. Clean floors with an abrasive pad moistened with mineral spirits to remove all grease, soap residue, oil, dirt, etc. Once dry, screen using a No. 100 grit screen. Do not apply over floors previously finished with shellac, lacquer, wax, or stains
containing stearates, wax or finishes in very poor condition in need of complete removal.
  2. Follow step 2 under New Wood Floors. Tack floor with cloth moistened with mineral spirits to remove dust.

Old Wood Floors:

  1. Sand floor to bare wood according to NOFMA or NWFA approved methods. Make sure to remove all existing stain and finish.
  2. Tack floor with cloth dampened with mineral spirits to remove all dust.
  3. Follow steps 2 through 4 under New Wood Floors.

NOTE: Polyurethane will have a slight darkening effect when applied over light colored surfaces. Do not apply over floors previously finished with wax, shellac, lacquer or stains containing wax or stearates.
