APPLICATION DIRECTIONS
SURFACE PREPARATION
Make sure material is at room temperature. Invert container gently several times before each use. Best results are obtained at ambient temperatures between 50° and 90°F, and at humidities below 80%. A T-bar applicator is recommended, although a premium 1/4″ or 3/8″ nap roller may be used. Abrade sealer using a DuraSeal® Pre-Treat Pad. Proceed based on floor type as described below.
NATURAL FLOORS: Sand and prepare floor according to NWFA recommended methods. Finish abrading with 120 or 150 grit pad or equivalent. Do not use steel wool. Vacuum very thoroughly; then tack with a towel or mop lightly dampened with water to remove all dust. Apply DuraSeal® Fast Dry Sanding Sealer as described below and allow to dry 3 hours before abrading with a DuraSeal™ Pre-Treat Pad. After abrading, vacuum thoroughly, tack with a towel lightly dampened with water, and apply your selected DuraSeal® waterborne finish per label directions.
STAINED FLOORS: Sand and prepare floor according to NWFA recommended methods. Finish abrading with 100 grit pad or equivalent. Do not use steel wool. Make sure stain is thoroughly cured before topcoating. NOTE: If DuraSeal® Penetrating Finish or DuraSeal® Quick Coat™ Penetrating Finish is used, buff cured stain with a green pad. Tack with water-dampened cloth for best leveling and adhesion. Apply DuraSeal® Water-Based Fast Dry Sanding Sealer as described below and allow to dry 3 hours before abrading with a DuraSeal™ Pre-Treat Pad. After abrading, vacuum thoroughly, tack with a towel lightly dampened with water, and apply your selected DuraSeal® waterborne finish per label directions.
APPLICATION
- Pour a 4″-6″ wide line of DuraSeal® Water-Based Fast Dry Sanding Sealer directly from the container along the starting wall. Go with the direction of the floor or grain.
- Pull the sealer with a clean, moistened applicator toward the other wall with an angled, squeegee motion.
- As you approach the wall, turn applicator and pad out excess material parallel to the wet edge.
- Feather all turns; stopping and starting points.
- Allow sealer to dry 3 hours before abrading with a DuraSeal™ Pre-Treat Pad. After abrading, vacuum thoroughly, tack with a towel lightly dampened with water, and apply your selected DuraSeal® waterborne finish per label directions. Dry time is based on conditions of 77° F and 50% relative humidity at the recommended application rate. Use two coats of DuraSeal® Water-Based Fast Dry Sanding Sealer on natural white oak floors.

WARNING
Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may generate dust or fumes that contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. For more information, call the National Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD (in US) or contact your local health authority.
